UC Merced’s three schools — the School of Engineering, School of Natural Sciences, and School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts — offer undergraduate and graduate programs, resources and laboratories that enrich students’ educational experiences.
Undergraduates can choose from 24 majors and 25 minors, while graduate students can choose to join one of the 18 graduate groups managed by more than 200 full-time faculty members, all of whom have come to UC Merced from leading universities across the nation and around the world. The full-time faculty is enhanced by visiting professors and lecturers from many different backgrounds.
Undergraduate students can conduct research under the mentorship of innovative professors, an opportunity that enhances each student researcher's education by offering new perspectives on what's learned in classrooms and giving heightened experiences that will look great on resumes or graduate school applications. The campus’ state-of-the-art facilities offer many places to meet, study or work in laboratories. Undergraduates can also choose to spend some time studying abroad.
Graduate students apply what they learn in classes to the research they’re conducting in pursuit of their master’s or doctoral degrees. The close-knit graduate community fosters opportunities to cross disciplines and work with people in other fields to solve big problems.
The opportunities to study, research and thrive will only grow as the campus reaches 10,000 students after completion of the 2020 Project.
