Academic Advising Information

Why see an Academic Advisor?

It is important for all of our UC Merced students to stay in close contact with their academic advisors. All students are assigned an academic advisor within the major you declared. If you have not yet declared a major, you will be able to receive academic advising services from the Bright Success Center under an undeclared status. Once you declare a major, you will be assigned a new advisor within that school.

Here are a few of the reason you should connect with your advisor. Your advisor can assist you:

  • become familiar with the campus, programs, policies and procedures
  • develop strategies to reach your educational, professional, and personal goals
  • declare a major / minor
  • stay on track to graduate on time
  • connect with campus resources

Here is a lists of the advising departments on campus. Please find your major in one of the schools listed and reach out to the appropriate advising department by using the link to visit their advising website.
